Before downloading the pre-release of Music Library please read the following notes carefullly:
- Backup your data !!!
This pre-alpha version of Music Library most probably contains a number of bugs. Some of these may corrupt your data. Therefore you should make sure
you backup all mission-critical data. If you want to use the exporting to Id3v2 or PCDJ functionality, you should especially backup your audio files
and your PCDJ record case directory.
If you are not an experienced computer-user, it would be wise to wait for a more tested and more bug-free version of Music Library.
- Setting up the winamp 2 plugins [required]
To analyse your audio files, Music Library must be able to decode them. Music Library can recognize any format as long as the appropriate winamp
plugins are available. To set up your winamp plugins click the options button (see below) and add every plugin dll which you want to use. After adding the
plugins, restart Music Library.
Example:

If you don't have any winamp 2 plugins you can:
- Install winamp 2.80 (not 3.x) and use its plugins
- Install the MAD plugin to decode mp3s. In the configuration of the MAD plugin, set the resolution to 16-bit and the priority to lowest or normal.
- Buttons
Here follows a short hint on the buttons in Music Library (from left to right):
- Create Library
- Open Library
- Save Library
- Create new group
- Delete selected group
- Add files to the selected group
- Recursively search for files in the selected directory and add them to the selected group
- Remove selected files
- Options
- Statistics (currently quite useless)
- Exporting
To export to PCDJ, you must set up your PCDJ record case location (the directory should be something like: "C:\Program Files\PCDJ Red\PCDJ Recordcase\"). Music Library will prompt for this location, if you have not yet specified it.
To export tag data:
- Select one or more files (or all files by pressing ctrl+A).
- Right click one of them to make the popup menu appear.
- Go to the menuitem "Export Tag Data" and select the appropriate option in the submenu.
Exporting to PCDJ has only been tested with PCDJ red and might not work with other versions!!! So again, backup your record case (the "PCDJ Recordcase" directory) before trying anything.
- Bug reporting and general discussion forum
I've again set up a forum for reporting bugs and general discussion: Cubic Carrot Software Forum.
Note that this forum will display advertisements.
- Library files [Important]
The final release will probably not be able to read the library files (*.ccl) generated by this pre-alpha release. Please keep this in mind before filling
in all data in the library.
- Screen resolution
Currently your monitors resolution must be set to at least 1152x864. Otherwise the software will still work, but the user interface will be messy in
the current release.
Music Library has been tested under Windows 98 and Windows 2000.
Download Music Library 0.0.0.18.
